welcome to the game
i view biz as a game. some days you are chasing the next win. some days you are coming down from a win. some days you’re so lost you are looking for one thing to go well in the day to get you to the next day.
i’ve sat in countless meetings and calls the last 9 months, likely over 250 calls. it’s a game of numbers when you are seeking discovery if a project makes sense to 1) take on 2) can you do it well 3) are you doing it because it pushes you forward or 4) for the money.
the game is highs and lows because the brain adapts different tasks to certain levels of ‘fun.’ its forever shifting.
enjoyment changes based on outcomes of effort. one day making money from a creative project feels good. the next day your back in the game. you have to be back at square one ready to work.
what was fun 9 months ago might not be fun today. what was great last week, might be failing this week. that's the game. it requires the most amount of critical thinking and strategy to keep looking for ways to level up.
i don’t know where i’m going with this, but overall the last couple weeks have been the toughest level of the game. looking for that one breakthrough that takes the game to the next level. it’s like rolling the dice hoping for the winning roll but never knowing when it’s going to happen.
it might be the 100th roll or the 1000th, but you keep rolling the dice.
the game.
when it gets tricky, that’s when you really play the mental game with yourself.
