last couple of weeks in 9th grade I broke my wrist and collarbone dirt biking before summer.
you can’t do much when your right wrist and left collarbone are broken… was in 2 slings with Trex arms.
at the time, i remember being bummed thinking my summer was over
who knew looking back that summer would be one of the most impactful summers for life
spent the entire summer sitting on youtube learning adobe suite, which is what I would go on to use in college, then at the NFL, and now in my daily life for my biz
I pretty much couldn’t do shit that first month of summer so I sat on youtube watching tutorials and then going into adobe software teaching myself what I watched
learn → copy → practice → test → skill acquired → keep building off skill
ended up learning photoshop, illustrator, after effects, premiere & indesign
the full stack combo that is the framework for all design, videos, print, media, and marketing
it was the summer of learning, forced by broken bones
nowadays I still use YouTube to learn anything
its become my normal framework for everything with media & marketing
trial & error is the game of
idea
learn
apply
test
results
pivot or attempt again
with more skills you stack ‘em all together and aim to leverage every lesson
trial and error has been the framework for most of my video career
trial and error is common for some of the best artists in the world
life is trial and error
you don’t know what will resonate until you do, then you double down on it
study the greats, learn from the best, apply to the game and keep iterating
